Initial anchoring and long-term fixation of the pedicle screw within the vertebral body is crucial for successful fusion. Pedicle screws offer limited anchoring in patients with impaired bone tissue resulting from various conditions such as tumors, poor life style, revision cases, aging spine, etc.
The XPED Pedicle Screw System features a novel, expandable pedicle screw, designed for enhanced anchoring and improved long-term fixation. The XPED expandable screw's unique 4-wing design increases the contact area with the bone, thus facilitating bone anchoring and augmenting the natural bone ingrowth process.
EOI's CE-approved XPED Pedicle Screw System is sold in Israel and Europe, and the company is currently seeking to expand its distributor network. FDA 510(k) clearance is in place for the XPED standard screws, and is pending for the expandable screw. In parallel, EOI is developing a pipeline of additional innovative products for spinal surgery and orthopedic fracture repair.
